Sculptra Collagen Stimulation
Sculptra (Poly L Lactic Acid) is a collagen stimulator. It does not act as a filler on its own, but rather it causes the production of collagen which essentially is your body’s own filler. The downside of Sculptra is that results take 3 months to fully develop. The upsides are that it lasts longer than most fillers (2 years for most patients) and that you get more “bang for your buck” in terms of volume per dollar.
Juvéderm & Restylane Fillers
Fillers are a non-surgical method for restoring or adding volume to your face, which can help increase the size and shape of the lips, and improve fine lines and wrinkles. For lips, the best options are soft, hyaluronic acid fillers, which give augmentation but still feel soft and natural. Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally found in the skin. It helps maintain skin moisture by attracting water. In addition to hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm and Restylane, Imagen also offers Sculptra and Fat Transfer for volume resetoration.
Fat Transfer for Lasting Volume
At our Omaha Med Spa, we offer an excellent and cost-effective solution known as a fat transfer for many of our patients. This procedure provides substantial volume replacement using your body’s own fat, resulting in essentially permanent results. Notably, there’s no risk of allergic reactions or rejection, as the fat is sourced from your own body. Fat transfer is highly effective in various filler applications, except for fine lines and wrinkles, where smoother gels tend to yield superior results in our experience.
Fillers FAQs
What are Fillers?
Fillers are a nonsurgical method for improving lines and wrinkles and replacing lost facial volume. The best options for fillers are hyaluronic acid fillers. Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally found in your skin. It helps to maintain the moisture in your skin by attracting water. When you get a filler treatment, the hyaluronic acid will attract water, plumping the area.
Fillers can be used to replace volume in the cheeks, diminish the smile lines around the mouth and improve fine lines and wrinkles just about anywhere.
Am I a good candidate for Fillers?
Almost anyone can expect some improvement with fillers. To be a good candidate, you must have reasonable expectations for what fillers can do for you. It may take several syringes of filler to achieve the effect that you want. If you want a lot of volume, something like Sculptra or Fat Transfer may be a better option for you. You should also be on a good skin care regimen, which will help improve your results even more.
What should I expect with Filler treatment?
Our experienced physicians perform all of our facial rejuvenation treatments. Filler is a minimally invasive treatment. There is some discomfort associated with the procedure, so we do topical numbing cream and ice for our filler patients. Filler is an office-based treatment and you can expect to see the results immediately.* Our physicians have extensive experience with fillers and have developed a technique to give you natural looking results. You may have some swelling or bruising after a filler treatment.
How long do fillers last?
How long your filler results last depends on many factors. For most patients, the results will last about 9 months. If you frequently exercise, your body may break down the filler faster than average. Another factor in the duration of the treatment will be which filler you choose. Heavier fillers like Voluma and Lyft will give a longer duration, but can be unnatural feeling in the areas around the mouth. Lighter fillers, which are used for fine lines, may last closer to 6 months.
Which Filler should I use?
- Hyaluronic Acid Fillers
- Sculptra
- Fat Transfer
Hyaluronic Acid Fillers - Instant & Reversible
The most common fillers are Hyaluronic Acid fillers (Restylane and Juvederm). There are several reasons that these fillers are popular, both with patients and with doctors. First, they produce immediate results. It is very easy to see whether you need more filler in each area and to make sure that augmentation is even. Second, they are reversible. If you’ve never done fillers before, it can be very reassuring to know that if you hate it, it can be undone. Hyaluronidase will dissolve away injected fillers within a matter of hours to days.
Hyaluronic Acid Fillers come in a range of different styles; some are thicker for volume or plumping, while others are thinner and more flexible to complement natural expression.
Sculptra - Natural Collagen Production
Sculptra (Poly L Lactic Acid) is a collagen stimulator. It does not act as a filler on its own, but rather it causes the production of collagen which essentially is your body’s own filler. The downside of Sculptra is that results take 3 months to fully develop. The upsides are that it lasts longer than most fillers (2 years for most patients) and that you get more “bang for your buck” in terms of volume per dollar.
Fat Transfer - Natural & Permanent*
A fat transfer is a great, cost effective option for many patients. You can get larger volume replacement with fat and the results are essentially permanent. There is no risk for allergic reaction or rejection since the fat comes from your own body. It works well in almost all applications of fillers with the exception of the fine lines and wrinkles. I find that in this instance the smooth gels work much better than the globular fat.
*Fat transfer is ideal for restoring larger volume for the long-run, however our fat cells will continue to respond naturally as they would if they were located anywhere else in the body. Expanding or shrinking with weight.
Does it hurt to get fillers?
At Imagen we offer a numbing cream to help minimize any discomfort. Also, most fillers now include lidocaine to make you feel more comfortable during your treatment. Everyone responds differently to fillers but it's not uncommon to experience some swelling or bruising for a few days after the treatment. You can use over the counter pain medicine and ice to sooth the area (but don't apply any pressure).
Are Fillers safe? What are the risks?
Hyaluronic Acid filler is a very safe treatment. It has been used in millions of patients world wide and has been FDA approved for treatment of wrinkles in the US since the approval of Restylane in 2006. The most common risk of fillers is swelling and bruising. The area around the mouth is much more likely to bruise than the cheek. The under eye area is another area that tends to bruise. Just in case you develop bruising, you should give yourself at least two weeks to heal before any big event.
To reduce the risk of bruising and help improve swelling, you may wish to ice the treatment area before and/or after the injection. Oral or topical Arnica can also help to prevent or treat bruising. Lumps and bumps are also common to feel after a filler treatment. This is normal. As long as the bumps are not visible, they do not require treatment.
The most serious complication possible with any filler injection is injection of the filler into a blood vessel. For this reason, a detailed knowledge of facial anatomy and extensive experience is necessary. Our physicians have years of experience with fillers.
How much do Fillers cost?
All of our filler treatments are based on the number of syringes of filler used and which type of filler is used. At Imagen, our fillers are only injected by our experienced physicians, we don’t use any nurse injectors. Out most popular fillers are the Restylane family and start at $550 per syringe. We do participate in Galderma’s Aspire Rewards and Allergan’s Brilliant Distinctions' loyalty programs for filler users. Every time you get a treatment you earn points. These points can then be redeemed for coupons to use toward your next treatment.
