Aging affects all parts of our body. As years pass, we lose fat and collagen from the skin all over our bodies. For many women, this results in a loss of fat in the vulva and mons. This can lead to physical discomfort as we lose the natural cushion and can also cause of lack of confidence in the appearance of our intimate areas. As with other areas of the body, a loss of volume and elasticity in intimate areas can affect both comfort and confidence. Weight loss, whether intentional or medication-assisted, can sometimes lead to unexpected changes in delicate areas, affecting both appearance and comfort. Fortunately, there’s a simple, effective way to restore a youthful, natural look.
The labial puff procedure is a minimally invasive, non-surgical procedure that can have little to no down time. It is designed to replace lost volume in the vulva and labial tissues and bring a more youthful appearance to the labia majora (the outer labia).
The treatment is discreet and can provide a significant boost to your self-confidence. It is often sought out by women who prioritize feeling their best at every stage of life.
What is the Labial Puff?
The labial puff procedure is a replacement of volume that has been lost by weight loss or aging. There are several different cosmetic procedures available to help replump the vulva.
Fillers
Just as dermal fillers restore volume to the lips and cheeks, they can also rejuvenate the labia majora for a soft, natural-looking enhancement. Numbing cream or ice make the filler treatment more comfortable. Hyaluronic acid fillers can last up to 18 months. Hyperdilute Radiesse is another filler that can be used for the labia puff procedure.
Sculptra
Many patients opt for Sculptra as a volumizer. Sculptra stimulates collagen production and is popular for use in the face as well as for buttock augmentation. Sculptra is non-surgical and has the benefit of a longer duration, lasting up to 2 years. Because Sculptra stimulates collagen production, it can also improve labial laxity.
Fat Transfer
For women seeking a more permanent solution or for those requiring significant volume replacement, fat transfer may be the best option. Fat transfer removes some of the excess fat from another area and then moving it to the labia. Labial puffing with fat grafting is a permanent treatment, but it may require more downtime. You will also have to be careful with pressure on the area, which may mean you need to avoid normal sitting for a couple of months.
Labiaplasty
A labial puff is not labiaplasty. Labiaplasty is plastic surgery that removes extra tissue, usually the labia minora (the inner lips). Labial puff is a non-surgical, cosmetic procedure designed to treat the labia majora (the outer lips).
Who is a Good Candidate?
Labial puffing can be performed on women of any age who want a natural, refreshed look without surgery. Women experiencing volume loss due to aging, weight loss, or hormonal changes often seek out labial puffing for the quick recovery. Patients seeking the enhanced comfort and confidence through labial puff should be generally healthy, but there are few contraindications to the procedure.

What to Expect During & After Treatment
The first step of your labial puff procedure is the consultation. During your appointment, you will meet one on one with our doctor. They will listen to your individual needs and tailor the vaginal rejuvenation treatments to your goals.
Preparation
If the doctor recommends a labia puffing among your treatment options, you can usually have the procedure performed the same day if you would like. You will complete consent paperwork and take “before” photos. Don’t worry, they are for you and the doctors only unless you give us permission to share them. We never post genital photos on our website or social media, but seeing other patient’s results can be very helpful for women trying to decide if this is the right treatment for them.
To ensure your comfort during the procedure, we will apply a topical numbing cream to the area. Depending on the treatment you are doing, you may need injection of local anesthetic as well.
The Treatment
Once the area is numbed, our doctor will perform the treatment. Sculptra or Hyaluronic acid fillers for labial puff treatment will generally take less than 20 minutes to perform. With dermal fillers, you will see an immediate plumping effect. Because Sculptra works to build collagen, the results can take up to 3 months for full effect but can last for 2 years.
Side Effects & Recovery
Though there are few side effects associated with filler or Sculptra injection, you should discuss this with the doctor during your consultation. Filler puffing treatments do not require any aftercare. Sculptra does need to be massaged several times a day for a few days after the treatment.
Fat Tranfser
If you are replacing volume with a fat transfer, the process will be a bit more involved. You will take some oral medications for your comfort. The process involves local anesthesia of the harvest site, a bit of liposuction to collect the fat, and then injection of the fat back into the vulva. Fat grafting does require is some recovery time. You should expect to take a few days off work. This is not necessary with a labial puff procedure. After a fat transfer, you will need to avoid pressure on the area. That means no sitting directly on the area for at least 8 weeks. You should also avoid aggressive cardio exercise or weight loss during that time. Fat transfer provides immediate, long-term results.
